The Problem
StellarPay's payment platform had a 68% checkout abandonment rate—nearly double the industry average of 41%. User recordings showed drop-offs at form validation, unexpected fees, and a confusing multi-step flow. Mobile abandonment was even worse at 74%.
The Solution
Consolidated the checkout from 7 steps to 3. Implemented inline validation with clear error messaging. Added a progress indicator and fee transparency at step one. Rebuilt the mobile experience with thumb-zone targeting and Apple Pay/Google Pay integration. Reduced form fields from 14 to 6 using smart defaults.
